Bank holiday raving

Secretsundaze this weekend... After the massive bank holiday opening party we played at in May, we are very excited!

We're doing the upstairs space with the Late Night Audio boys, Danny Clark and Toby Tobias.

Downstairs, the line up is about as good as house gets, with James & Giles, Steve Bug from Poker Flat, Canadians Guillaume and the Coutudumonts playing live, and the house legend that is Doc Martin playing an exclusive London gig.

The setting is THAT club, secluded somewhere in the Greenwich peninsula, which means there's no need to worry about keeping the sound up nice and loud on the huge terrace, all day and night!

Get in touch if you fancy coming down.

Friday tune... Part two

In preparation for our party tomorrow, here's one of Ashley Beedle's lesser known tracks from way back in 93. See you there tomorrow!

And for a limited time, you can grab an MP3 of one of his bigger hits here... Just in case you haven't got it already.

Friday tune... Part one.

This one is for last week... Proper deep, soulful, Detroit house from Dixon, Parrish, Wilhite and Pitman. Lush.

The Invisible - Mercury rises!!!

Massive congratulations to our friends (and former guests at our sister party 'Instrumental Works' last December) on their Mercury Music Prize nomination.

In the interests of keeping things fair, it ought to be here that we reveal the other nominations.

BUT because under our roof you play by our rules (and we always know best), take it from us that the other artists up for the award are not worth bothering with.

Here's one very good reason why they get our vote: The Invisible 'London Girl'

If you like what you hear, please support the band and pick up the album from their shop (and treat yourself to a T-shirt while you're there perhaps).

Finally, they are a friendly bunch, so become friends in cyberspace >The Invisible Myspace<

Ministry Of Sound Radio

Every month we're going to be providing a show of sonic stimulation going out on the mighty MOS radio under their Nu Disco banner.

Alternate weeks the music will be provided by a roster of Cosmic Truth friends such as the lovely Cosmo, the Idjut Boys and Toby Tobias of Late Night Audio and Rekids fame. Full details >here<.

The first show is going out tonight at 7pm - with us handing the batton over to Sir Dom of Chung and newly-wed Sean Brosnan after an hour.

To listen click >here<. And if you missed it going out live, don't worry. There's a listen again option on the site, and we're going to work out a way of hosting the shows on the blog.

Leave the 'face for radio' gags alone...

Tiger Chilli Crab Tour - This Saturday!

We've been drafted in to curate and host the London leg of Tiger Chilli Crab UK tour.

Get down to Big Chill Bar, E1, where there will be more than twelve hours of dub, disco, Balearic, rare groove, house and more, from some of our favourite DJs.

Not only do you get a full day and night of amazing music, there will also be free beer for anyone who buys some of the authentic far eastern food that will be served up from the custom-made Tiger tour van. Not bad.

Saturday Aug 22nd (12pm - 1am)

PARTY VENUE - ALL CHANGE

Due to a last minute balls up with the venue (don't ask) we've had to move the party... But don't worry, as it will be taking place at our favourite Peruvian water hole - the basement of 578 Kingsland Road, E8 4AH.

We've had two mental parties there before, so hopefully this one should be just as good.

Look forward to seeing you down there tomorrow.

This Saturday

The party will take place in the loft on the top floor of 70 Hoxton Street, London N1 6LP. The password is BEARDO.

Sign up to the Facebook event page here to get your name on the list - don't forget, it's free!

Here's a link to a mix from Ben Gatto Fritto to get you in the mood.

See you on Saturday!

Why not?

I was going to post a new track for this week's 'Friday' tune. But this is such a belter that it gets the vote instead. Carly Simon with 'Why'. Well Balearic!

This one's for Moonboots, by the way, Bringing sunshine to Stretford 365 days a year!

Summer time

Whilst Dickie's been off spreading the Cosmic message to our oriental bredren in China and Hong Kong, jet setting disco crustacean that he is, I've been making the most of summer in Blighty.

As well as another excellent session with Greg Wilson and the Hellfire Club boys, there was impromptu set at Lovebox with Danny from Late Night Audio, standing in for Toby Tobias, who fancied a lie-in.

Last weekend, it was up to Cambridge for the extremely mental Secret Garden Party. We had a bit of a Chocolate Vanilla / Cosmic Truth collaboration happening on the Where The Wild Things Are stage, as we kept the system warm between the bands.

There were some great performances over the weekend, including the ever excellent Invisible, celebrating their recent Mercury Music Award nomination (congratulations lads!), and Cosmic favourites, the Golden Silvers.

Another highlight were Canadian three-piece Caribou, who I saw for the first time on Saturday night, and was completely blown away. Pounding rhythmic drums, coupled with layered Beach Boys-style harmonies. This band come very highly recommended! Check them out...

The rest of the weekend was spent wandering the site, checking out the various sporadic happenings that make the Secret Garden Party such a crazy place. From Lancashire hippies passing around peace pipes, to late-night swing speakeasies, to gypsy bands hanging from tree tops... It's not your average weekend.

Today, half of the East End seem to be heading to Field Day. Amongst the many excellent parties this evening, the Electric Minds 4th birthday party gets our seal of approval, especially since label boss Dolan Bergin will be joining us at our next Cosmic Truth session on Saturday 8th August.

Enjoy the weekend!

Last Friday's Friday tune

This one's in homage to the Minkioni girls, who host one of the (officially certified) finest Field Day after parties in London this evening.
