TTB post-Peru ponderings

Here is the To The Bone latest podcast (right-click to save), live from Crufts. Great job as ever guys- strong songs and beguiling banter. Listen out for the shout out to The Cosmic Truth - we'll forgive the fact they muddle up names, in the same way we forgive Mr Moran's no-show on deck-duties on the night.

We'll forgive. But we won't forget ;-)

Peru's Afraid Of The Cosmic Truth?

What a mental party! Thanks to everyone who came down... So much fun!!!
Things didn’t look too peachy on Saturday morning, when I woke up to find that the venue we were supposed to use had been shut down the night before (déjà vu, anyone?), and until sometime in the late afternoon, we were still without a home.

Thankfully, we got a hand of god in the shape of a basement underneath a Peruvian cafe, which I can only attribute to the Prawn’s return from South America, which meant we could still have the party.

The turnout was pretty amazing considering the change of venue... The place was totally rammed by midnight, and we had a bit of a sweatbox going on. Hot, hot stuff. Here’s Charlie TTB praying to his biggest fan:
Thanks again for coming down and giving the party such a good vibe! Details on the next party will follow very soon.

Much love x

Ever covered your flat in bubblewrap, drunk a bottle of night nurse and rolled around the walls till the popping stopped?

So next week, we are joined by Rik Maron, Dave Stenton, and Charlie Bennet, the men behind ToTheBone.

These are three men united by the common bonds of house music, night nurse, and dark, debauched discos. After four years of raising the roof under London's lowest ceilings, they know a thing or two about how to have a party, and I reckon that with them in tow, we should be in for a bit of a session next Saturday.

If you've not heard of them before, try tuning into one of their monthly ToTheBone podcasts – a monthly adventure in radio fuelled by strong booze, weak jokes and lots of Arthur Russell records. To get an idea of what's fueling their musical desires right now, here's their current top 10, in absolutely no particular order:

Hot R.S. - Slow Blow
Ramona Brooks - I Don't Want You Back
Wild Geese - Macho Disco
The Escorts - Make Me Over
The Earons - Land of Hunger
Low Motion Disco - Love Love Love (Soft Rocks remix)
Arthur Russell - Get Around To It
Risque - Thunder & Lightning (on 33 1/3)
$tinkworx - Coelecanth
Nebraska - Soft Return
Look out for more, slightly pointless top tens soon.

If you really can't wait until next Saturday, check out Charlie TTB's latest mix.

The return of the Cosmic Truth!

Gonna keep this one brief folks, cos if you don't know by now, that what have you been doing with yourselves, but it is time to tell you that next Saturday, 28th Februaturn of Who's Afraid of the Cosmic Truth!
As ever, we've hunted high and low for a suitable venue and in doing so found the perfect space for a our cosmic soiree. A fully stocked bar, specially fitted sound, plenty of space to dance, and - ahem - liberal attitude to licensing laws, I think we should be in for a good night.

Not only that, but we have secured our space, which is just a stones throw from Old Street round about, to hold parties on the last Saturday of every month!

Joining us for the first party will be the podcasting scallywags, ToTheBone (more on them later), who will be supplying their trade mark 'house and other types of music all night long'. See what they did there?

Get ready for a mental night! The Cosmic Truth goes monthly... Be afraid!

Tropicana end of year finale!

Another bit of post-event reportage here, but better late than never...
Last Sunday, we sent off the year and saw in the Christmas season with an all day knees-up at East End sunday rave joint, Tropicana. And boy, was it BIG!

We've had a cracking time at Tropicana over the past few months (and many sore-headed Mondays) so we were delighted to be hosting the final Sunday session of the year down at the Horse and Groom in Shoreditch.

To be completely honest my memories of it are a little hazy, but I can just about remember the line-up, and I reckon this is about as good as it gets for free on a Sunday afternoon:

Phoreski, who'd just flown in from a gig in Sao Paulo with Chateau Flight, and celebrating his new release on Bare Fist.

Our long-time disco compadre, Ben Pistor of Disco Bloodbath.

Friend, fellow vinyl obsessive, good time Lowlife and Croatian whooping partner, Matthew Burgess.

International jet-setter / Newcastle ket-setter, and one-third of the Bad Passion project, Chris Stoker.

Charlie and Dave (Rik pulled a sicky - lightweight!) from those pesky airwave polluters, To The Bone.

And us too, of course... Phew. I think I'm still recovering.
