Tonight, Lovebox and Electric Minds join forces to pay tribute to one of the true legends of modern music, Arthur Russell. A man who made his mark in downtown NYC in the mid 80s with pioneering music that was often as eerily avante garde as it was vibrant and energetic. He produced some of the most seminal dance records of all time, such as Dinosaur L's Go Bang, and Loose Joint's All Over My Face, as well as pushing sonic boundaries, and exercising his love for the ciello with a series of experimental, but still utterly beautiful pieces of music.The mark he made has inspired many, and his contemparies still cite his influence to this day. One such contemporary is author and academic Tim Lawrence, who will introduce Wild Combination - a documentary about Arthur Russell - tonight at the Hot Blood event.
Following that, the event will showcase tracks from the excellent Go Bang Arthur Russell tribute compilation, with live performances from Killer Whale and My Tiger My Timing, as well as DJ sets from Maurice Fulton, Faze Action, Yam Who?, and many more, including ourselves.
